25th FORUM 2000 Conference was organized in the Czech Republic from October 11th to 12th, 2020, this time in hybrid format, to discuss the need to restore responsibility and solidarity in a rapidly transforming world. The President of the Czech Senate Miloš Vystrčil was among the keynote speakers. We are happy that the conference was also represented by nine speakers from India.
Among the eminent speakers on the first day was Ms Trisha Ray, an Associate Fellow at the Center for Security, Strategy and Technology at the Observer Research Foundation in India. She took part in the panel discussion "Facing the authoritarian techno-challenge". Her research focuses on geopolitical and security trends in relation to emerging technologies, including AI, 5G and critical minerals. Trisha is a member
of UNESCO’s Information Accessibility Working Group, as well as a Pacific Forum Young Leader. Trisha completed her MA in Security Studies from the Walsh School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University.
On the second day, Mr Constantino Xavier was speaking. He took part in the panel discussion about situation in Myanmar. He is a Fellow in Foreign Policy and Security Studies at the Centre for Social and Economic Progress based in New Delhi, and a Non-resident Fellow at the Brookings Institution. He leads the Sambandh Initiative on Regional Connectivity, which examines India’s political, security and economic relations with the South Asian neighbourhood. He is currently writing a book on how democratic values influence India’s foreign policy, with case studies on Nepal, Sri Lanka and Myanmar based on new archival sources and interviews. He is also part of several policy dialogues between India, the European Union and other Indo-Pacific powers, and frequently comments for the media.
Spiritual leader His Holiness the Dalailama was another personality living in India. He addressed the audience with the message about the Czech President Václav Havel and the global responsibility.
FORUM 2000 Conference originated in 1997, when former Czech President Václav Havel, Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Elie Wiesel and philanthropist Yohei Sasakawa invited world leaders to Prague to discuss challenges humanity was facing on the threshold of a new millennium. Since then, Forum 2000 evolved into a successful and widely recognized conference series, where distinguished guests continue to address a diverse international community on topics ranging from religious dialogue to human rights and national security.
